Guarantee of Quality

Certificate of Guarantee

3 Year Bull Guarantee for Fertility and SoundnessAll bulls are guaranteed for a period of three years for fertility and soundness.

Fertility

All bulls must pass a rigorous Serving Capacity test for fertility before they make the sale. This test identifies and removes the bulls that are unfit to be mated. Bulls with a medium (will serve up to 30 cows a cycle) to very high serving capacity, are available for sale.

Soundness

All bulls must also pass a rigorous test for structural soundness, testicle size and confirmation by Eastland Vet Services.

If for any reason a Turihaua bull, within the “Three Year Guarantee” period does not perform as a result of his own fertility or structural defect, excluding injury, we will refund the purchase price or part thereof over the 3 years of Guarantee.

Vets comment

Bulls auctioned around New Zealand are sold with various guarantees. There is no national standard. Turihaua bulls are subjected to a rigorous series of examinations established by Turihaua after consultation with a number of experts. These tests are designed to ensure that the buyer obtains a sound bull ready and able to perform adequately for at least three years.

The New Zealand Veterinary Association is currently attempting to develop a national standard for the examination of bulls. These standards are likely to be similar to Turihaua’s current standards.

The Beef Council is investigating the feasibility of developing a dummy heifer to facilitate the examination of bulls for mating ability.

These moves will help ensure in the future that most bulls sold in New Zealand are structurally sound and fertile.
